This section shows some of the projects undertaken over the years. Teams are put together for the specific project requirement. Projects include fairing and painting, mast building, plug and mould tooling. The scope of works has often included the setup of the workshop facility prior to commencement of the project. The project duration can be from a few weeks to more than one year. Tony has been happy to incorporate and train the client’s staff to work alongside his specialists.
MALTESE FALCON YARD ARMS PLUG & MOULD
SCOPE OF WORK
Build plug and split female mould tool suitable for high pressure bladder moulding of yard arms. Design build method and finish two prototype booms.
On completion of our works in Brightlingsea the mould tools were shipped to Tuzla in Turkey where Magma’s staff completed a further 16 yard arms.
The two prototype yard arms are still in use on Maltese Falcon today.

Following the failure of the original contractor the assets were bought for set up in Amsterdam.
A first class facility was established for purpose.
The completed mast has now achieved many sea miles and remains in perfect condition.

SAILING YACHT A – 1/9TH SCALE TEST MAST FOR 98 METRE FREE STANDING MAST
SCOPE OF WORK
Complete 1/9th scale mast to drawings supplied.
Carry out all works including the commissioning of CNC machined Styrofoam mould tools, all carbon laminate, paint finish and fit out. Before joining the two halves of the split moulding they were fitted with fibre optic strain gauges for load testing.
At 1/9th scale still over 10 metres!
